Number of Australia Tourists Rising

Tourist arrivals from Australia to Indonesia in 2009 showed an increase of about 15 percent over the previous year.
Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Bill Farmer, Tuesday (04/20/2010) states, based on the record the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the number of Australians who travel to Indonesia in 2009 reached 548 500 people.

That number increased by approximately 15 percent compared with the previous year. Meanwhile, the number of Indonesian citizens who visited Australia last year also increased.

Based on data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the number of Indonesian citizens who visited the land of kangaroos that reached 108 750 people.

"The increasing number of visiting Australians and citizens of Indonesia to be strong evidence of communal relations and must play an important role in increasing knowledge and interests between country," said Farmer.

Indonesian visitors to Australia the increase due to several factors, including positive economic growth in Indonesia and good relations between countries.

"As close neighbors, Australia provides different experiences and diverse cultures. This is what makes a tourist attraction in both countries attractive and appealing place to visit," he said.

Earlier, Australia's travel organizers held a tourism promotion in Jakarta and Surabaya on April 16 to 19, 2010.
